About NJP

Nate Jacobs Productions, Inc.(NJP), an international theatrical production and touring company, created to enhance life experiences for individuals from every walk of life utilizing the arts. Under the NJP umbrella Nate will  continue to produce original theatrical works and manage local, national and international tours of his works and other theatrical productions.  Through NJP, Nate will continue to provide opportunities for young and aspiring actors to grow and build upon their professional experiences in the entertainment industry.

 

For many years, Nate Jacobs has been a driving force in Florida’s theater scene. He is the Founder and Artistic Director of the critically acclaimed Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe in Sarasota, Florida. For more than 25 years, he has worked extensively in the Central Florida community mentoring, training, and developing young aspiring performing artists. Nate’s outstanding contributions to young people and the arts has been recognized by the Sarasota County Branch NAACP Youth Council.  He was honored as one of its 2012 Men of Valor. Nate has received many other honors and accolades. In the spring of 2013, Nate was inducted into Sarasota’s Community Video Archives “Hall of Fame,” for his significant contributions to the arts and education. Nate and the other five founding members of WBTT were honored by Second Chance, Last Opportunity at its “Share the Light” luncheon in September 2014. To celebrate WBTT’s 15th anniversary and to commemorate Nate’s impact on the area’s cultural and educational environment, the City of Sarasota renamed 10th Way, Nate Jacobs Way, for the duration of the anniversary year. Most recently, Biz (941) and La Guia magazines named Nate the 2015 Unity Award Arts winner for being a champion of diversity.  Nate and WBTT have also received national recognition for their artistic work and boundless creativity. Nate Jacobs will receive the "Larry Leon Hamlin Producer Award" during the 2015 National Black Theatre Festival, in August, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.  He will receive this esteemed honor "due his contributions to Black theatre specifically and American theatre in general.

 

Nate Jacobs is an accomplished actor, singer, comedian, playwright, composer and director who has produced and appeared in local and national productions. As a playwright, composer and choreographer, Nate has created both original and adapted works for the musical theatre such as "Motown 60s Review," "The Soul Crooners," "The Soul Crooners 2," "Marvin Gaye, Prince of Soul," "The Magnificent Music of the 40s,"  "50's Juke Box Revue," "Songbirds of the 70's," "The Fabulous 5," '"Love Sung in the Key of Aretha," "Harry and Lena." and most recently, "Jazz Hot Mammas."
